Too right, I did about 400km of driving in one day in my company car earlier this week which is a 2008 Ford Ranger TDCi. I hate driving that thing, to jump into the Passat at the end of the day felt fantastic. The old style Diesel engine in the Ford is so rough by comparison (and gutless) and the 5sp auto in that thing does make the DSG seem very good.

The good news is that they're changing the Ranger for a Mondeo TDCi wagon soon -- which drives almost as nice as the Passat

If VW made the Cx5 it would be perfect...

VW cars consume oil... check up to once a month...

CX5 design grows oil ??? check once a month...Sucks carbon out of the air? mixes it with the add blue and puts it in your sump perhaps?

VW makes the CX5... once a month - once a month = nonce a month...never need to check your oil!

    Having a Gap Year!!!!
    what next?... what next?

I have a 1L oil that is refilled from a 5L oil in the back of the gti, bloody that thing eats so much oil, sometimes i think that the little pocket on the right of cargo area was built specifically for a 1L NEO oil can.

Rising oil levels - bit like rising sea levels, and just another reason for the carbon tax!

This thread reminded me to check mine, I've been slack and hadn't looked since the service back at the start of June. Strangely though it hasn't burnt much oil if anything - it's still on full (3500km traveled since service) so either they overfilled it or it doesn't chew much oil at all.

Mine hasn't either Dopey in 15000k's, neither did the 189TSI Tig in 70000k's.

I haven't checked mine in 10,000km (13K on it now). I figure that is what the warning sensors are for.... Might have a look tomorrow morning to see if this a thirsty B7 or not.

Frequently warning sensors can be too late It is advisable to do a check at least once a week as the unexpected can happen.

When we were touring full time I checked the oil, water, batteries and tyres EVERY MORNING before starting up.

5500 km's on the TDI and no movement in the dipstick level...

rising oil level in cx5 due to condensation?

CX5 is also off a mate's shopping list. diesel was teh pick, petrol is gutless.. not much to look for, perhaps wait for the next ford kugar?
More opportunites have been lost from indecision, rather than wrong decision....
