    Passat B7 annoying dash rattle

    Hi All,

Just wanted to see if any one has had any rattles in their Passat in the dash area just below the lighting switch, around the little cubby area.

It is freaking annoying and I thought that it was related to my cluster install but I have just triple checked everything there with no issue.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks,
    Boobs.

Yes I have one in that area after I went across an awkward gutter

It seems to be the tubing to the vent I have packed it with foam and its stopped ATM it seems to do it worse on hot days

I took the end panel off the dash and put some foam in there and also poked it up in the top of the drop down cubby area.

It would stop if I held the door up tight with my hand most times

Thanks mate for the reply. My end panel off the dash and been off for months. I lost a clip when I took it off but can't seem to find it. rattle doesn't sound like the clip however.

I reversed the parts that where removed for premium cluster installed and double checked that everything was aligned. put it all back together and it seems to have gone however won't celebrate yet, will see after the drive to bundy and back.

The other rattle turned out to be the stuff on my keyring, oops.

I'm on the Brisbane southside about 10km from the cbd.

Is your Passat a TDI? I've noticed the newer TDI's have a lot more rattles than the older ones (comparing it to my old 2007 Jetta TDI). I've just learned to accept that it's all part of owning a diesel VW.

I am so glad someone has sort of found an easy way to fix this rattle. My car used to be so quiet till I drove across the Centre of Tassie on the good old dirt corrugated road.
I found that by thumping the dash only gave me a sore hand. And yes I have checked it is not the key ring.
There is also another rattle on the passenger side which has responded well to a good hard thumping by hand (and my hand is now recovered).
