I didn't need to change the gateway on my B6 passat (2006) when I installed on RNS-510. They use a different gateway to golfs and it seems battery drain is not an issue.

my '06 had it behind the climate control head from memory.
I am not sure which revision you need, but I went with a 2008 one from a wrecked CC and it solved my battery drain problem
I don't know if a Golf one would work but I didn't want to muck around with it
not all RNS510s drain batterys - those before firmware 1100 would not drain the earlier cars.

Thanks for your help. I fitted a later RCD510 with the RV camera port Version 2 I think. So the earlier model may not have the battery drain problem

    Scratch my Earlier Comment..

Yes the Golf Can Gateways work

HOWEVER there are problems where it doesnt know how to interface correctly with the Steering Wheel lock on the Passat etc and several other computers in the system!

The Correct Gateway to get hold of in order to Solve Battery Drain issues is the following part number for the 3C Passat

    3C0 907 530 Q
    H/W: 3C0 907 530

You will need access to VCDS to re establish all the correct codings..

My 3C0 907 530 Q CAN Gateway is on its way to me now

other wise We got a quote today from the Dealership for about NZD450 ex singapore

Oh and the Can Gateway is heaps easier to get to on the Passat than the Golf

The Can Gateway is sitting in a small bracket behind the HVAC (Aircon Controls) Unit pop the trim off and the four Torx Screws and you can reach in and unclip it and then remove the plug.

Hey, I just picked up the 3C0 907 530 Q for my own 07 B6 Passat. Can you confirm there were no issues with this gateway revision in your Passat? Thanks!

Absolutely No Issues... if you have issues its faulty..

I had issues with one but it had circuit board issues..

and I also tested a Golf Q index Can Gate and that just caused issues as the Golf one doesnt seem to like the electronic steering column lock etc...

The navi, radio and telephone modules won't come up in VCDS

Tried to do what I could, but those modules won't interface in VCDS. They worked fine in the old C version. I did add all of the right components in the CAN-BUS section. Maybe my Q version is buggered.
