    Passat B5 V6 - Water in TCM

    Hey all,
My B5.5 passat V6 Auto has had the old blocked sunroof drain drama and has led to water on the passenger front foot well. Now i suspect there is water in my Transmission control module. It was going into limp mode and now i can even get her to shift out of park.
Does anyone here have experience with the problem and how hard was it to remedy. Was replacing the TCM the answer?

-all help would be greatly welcomed

I've come across a few of these before.

    Whereabouts are you located?

Most of the time, you can get away with pulling the cover off the module, and drying everything out.

Sometimes the terminal pins the connector will corrode and break off, meaning a few tricky repairs.

Occasionally, there will be some cracked soldering on the printed circuit board, but that's an easy repair as well.

    Thanks for the reply mate!
Im in geelong. I iwll pull the module out and crack it open tonight. The problem is intermittent/regular so im hoping its just moisture in side it. I'll inspect all the solder for cracks, and run over it with the multimeter too.
If the unit is shagged are they easy enough to come by. I assume they are a fairly model specific part?

Yeah, they are specific. Slightly expensive too, from memory.

Pull the outer cover off the large connector to it, and see if any of the wiring has corroded or broken away as well.
