Question Passat B2 '87 and Golf III engine differences

    Hello all,

I have VW Passat B2 1.6 TD, engine is from Golf II. That engine is broken now and I need new one. I now have good opportunity to buy engine from Golf III, witch is 1.9 TD, and with that engine i get everything with it. (pumps, connectors...)

Do I need to make some changes on my passat B2 or not? Some people says that engine from golf III can't put in my b2, and some peoples says that I can !!??

Now I am confused and I dont know what to do, please tell me what are the changes that a need to make.

    Thanks everyone.

Engine will physically fir, you will need to swop over lots of parts like sump and mounts for use in the passat.
Wiring will be the best part.
    Post up your location mate.
There are bugger all diesels in Australia, which is why people on here did not have the specific info for you.
