    Passat Alltrack availability in Australia?

    In my old Audi A4 I always had the sunroof blind opened never closed and always had the roof popped open sometimes even when it was raining. Especially good at high speeds when the wind noise from open windows annoys you. Other options would have been nice but promised myself I wouldn't get carried away and tried to stick as close to my budget of $52k

    The underlying problem there, of course, is: idiots/tailgaters cutting in, while you are (or your ACC is) trying to maintain a safe distance. I have this problem all the time *without* any ACC, hence I'm constantly fiddling with the CC lever to regain distance. Meaning I suspect that the minimum distance set may well match what I consider safe anyway. So, at least it's a computer taking that task off my hands. I don't tailgate and hate the mofos who do.

    Now, if only I could also get the heat-seeking missiles option to blow away the morons who push in in the first place!

    Again, I guess only a test drive would show me.

    Sorry, I misinterpreted ACC as chassis control, not cruise control. ACC is meh in my book, even as someone who always uses CC on open paved roads.

    I could be convinced with xenons - another older person with fading eyesight, although not a lot of country driving. I can't see the point in sunroof either.

    An issue with the options I'm interested in (apart form the seats) is that a city test drive isn't going to tell me anything, hence waiting around for road tests.

    Can't remember the distance - I think it varied depending on what speed you were doing. The most annoying bit was that you couldn't turn off the adaptive part & use it like old fashioned cruise control, therefore the wifes $40k Mondeo Titanium was more under-specced with CC than the base model (Zetec spec would have been a better pick but you can't tell 'em).

    The people pulling in front of me, I don't blame them, the gap was HHHUUUUUUUUUGGEE!

    I am pretty sure that you can turn off the adaptive bit. I will check on my way to work today. the distance is set with the lever on top of the cruise stalk.

    I use the ACC (adaptive cruise control) all the time. Find it very useful, even around town with traffic flowing. Also, it will stop the car and move it on once the traffic gets going, in case you were wondering (have done this a few time to test this feature out).

    Gap at minimum setting is approx 2 seconds from the vehicle in front (i.e. what would be classed as 'safe' under the road rules) . . . would be nice if it would allow you to go a little less BUT the response time from the ACC is such that it does take a little time to figure out what is happening and react (have had it use up a whole second before deciding to slam the brakes on when an id-ot jumps in front of you as there is a nice gap there).

    Gap at max setting . . . the bl--dy vehicle in front of you may as well be in another state!

    Yes, you can turn off the ACC function from the MFI settings and it will act as a normal cruise control.


    Once you get used to the ACC, it is hard to go back to normal cruise control . . . you keep expecting it to behave the same way (interesting experience until you remember that the rental car you have does not have ACC!)

    I am not contemplating an Alltrack, the V6 Passat is quite sublime thankyou but I would certainly like to council anyone looking at the options list to tick the Driver assist xenon cornering headlights & Active cruise boxes. They both offer extra safety & certainly some peace of mind, especially as our roads become more riddled with potholes & are increasingly crowded with olympic classed morons with the patience of a hungry great white shark.....

    Hey, does this mean the 12 way electric seat option was included with this option?
    I will calm down and assume this is incorrect, as just ordered new Passat, including seat option, but sidelined
    Xenon lights due to $3300 cost.

    Have just ordered Passat 125 TDI sedan.
    Dynaudio INCLUDED.
    Also, research found ACC suitable for performance car, like V6. No benefit for lumpy bumpy roads where I live.
    E.G. Comfort setting is same as standard setting. From there becomes firmer. In my Golf with ACC, no diff between comfort and Auto setting.
    Sport is bloody hard.

    confusing thread when people use ACC for both adaptive cruise control & adjustable dampers.

    Does VW use the same nomenclature for both?
