    Passat 2.8V6 info please ?

    hey passateers..

my brother in law is thinking about buying a 2000 MY00 passat wagon (black, semi-auto, 2.8, beige leather etc.). Is there any problems or issues we should be looking out for with this model? Also curious about fuel consumption, major servicing costs, etc.

Also if anyone feels like giving a the car a positive plug then feel free...

    Cheers

    hi

i have got 2001 2.8L black, they very good in term of fuel uses, the only think is they hard to keep clean but once they clean they look very good.

my passat is for sale if you are interested.

    Passat 2.8V6 infor please

    I am now in my second 2.8 V6 - the first was a 1998 which I bought in 2001, currently a 2002 4Motion I bought about a year ago.

I've really enjoyed both cars - particularly the internal and external build quality, after 20 years of Alfa Romeos - sorry to say but this is reality. Nothing breaks or falls off, servicing costs are quite reasonable - especially with a specialist service point like the Canberra VW Centre - Pete Shelley provides excellent advice and backup.

In terms of performance, both are good without being road rockets. Fuel consumption a bit on the high side around town - about 12l/100, but on a trip I get down around high 8s-low 9s, which I think is pretty good.

The current car is a bit soft in handling but not excessively so. The 4Motion gives very reliable handling.

Overall I think they are a good solid investment.
