Thanks guthrie. What is the month/year of manufacture of your Passat?
I have a MY10.5 Passat with the 118tsi engine and the 7sp DSG.
The clutch shudder started at about 18,500km. Had my local dealer look at it a month ago - new clutch pack is due in August to fix the shudder. Will be covered under warranty which is good.
Apart from this issue, Im generally pretty happy with the car. The 118tsi is a much better motor than the 103tdi one I had in a previous Passat.

I think around June 2010.

Thanks. I think that may be one of the old DSGs. Seems that the 2011/2012 DSG boxes are fine.
A friend of mine at work mentioned (take this with a grain of salt) that the 2009/10 DSGs were built in China and that there is a leaked document indicating 30% failure rate (?!?!)
The panoramic goes better than expected, looks dark from above... but from underneath the glass does not look that dark until the glass overlaps when open. This means the kids can look out through the roof and see the harbour bridge architecture, trees tunnel lights etc.
When the sun is up and the glass is closed it brightens the interior a lot, but you dont feel the solar radiation that much, until you open the glass and the solar radiation hits. With the blind shut, it still lights up , but I dont think anything of it.
On a rainy day the glass roof with the blind open cheers up the interior that would otherwise be sombre... I have to say, I havent had any 35 -40 deg days with it yet...
Cheers

what next?... what next?
I agree with FSI 220.
It works surprisingly well - on a sunny day it is quite bright inside (so can close the blind) but does not get hot - have not had problems with sunlight on instruments either. When the roof is opened up you get the full sun impact and it really is a big difference (a whole lot brighter and a while lot 'sun' hotter).
When I was placing my order, the dealer checked for me and confirmed with VW that the glass roof is both UV and IR protective.
Will see how it copes with full summer sun over the coming months. Based on what I have seen so far, don't expect it to have any problems.

Update time!
So the Passat had its transmission computer reset/updated at the last visit to VW which was almost 2 months ago.
The DSG had returned to normal and was working beautifully for the last 3,000 kms…
…however, the exact same symptoms as before have returned over the weekend and hence it is booked in tomorrow to get the DSG looked at again!
Even though the car has only just rolled past 16k, should I be pushing for clutch pack and mechatronic unit replacement?!
I think so, returning a car to the dealer to have its computer reset every 2 months is quite a frustrating thing
Thoughts?!?
