Mate, I reckon as VW has advised there was an air flow issue & done work to remedy that & then subsequently told you there is no further problem with the warning light being on they have acknowledged that their own diagnostics cannot find an issue therfore suggesting there is actually nothing wrong. This being the case it is reasonable to assume on your part that if the light comes back on it means there is no problem needing attention. Unless VW tells you 'yes come back if the light appears again' then they are basically inferring there is now no issue. Now don't take this as gospel just a point of discussion of which I have a few on this.....
Another point, short of this constantly doing your head in just take it back whenever the light appears, cover your bases mate. Have they ever mentioned over sensative sensors (if that is possible) or replacing any sensors..?

Goods news, I hope.
I'm not entirely sure of the terminology or if I'm describing it properly, so be nice guys.
The dealer had the car for 3.5 days this week and appear to have found and fixed the problem. They showed me a photo of an o-ring that had been crimped/creased when being installed in the factory. This o-ring is used in a join somewhere in the air intake plumbing, the crimp/damage meant that a tiny amount of unfiltered air was entering the system and affecting the pressure. It wasn't until they lifted the o-ring out that the damage could be seen, as it was on the underside.
Fingers crossed this long running saga is now over.
Cheers
Paul
