Overspray on glass
Very unhappy at present with overspray of some sort on all glass areas.
Didn't notice anything when delivered, but since having windows tinted 10 days ago there is a very noticeable blotchy milky residue on all glass areas except that portion of the front screen swept by the wiper blades.
Investigation by local dealer, Windscreens O'Brien and VW/BMW cerified panel beater shows that the problem is definitely on the outside and not in the 0.5cm section hidden inside the door groove (so its not a manufacturing flaw in the glass). Suspect is detailing process pre delivery as the car has not been sprayed with anything other than water for a wash prior to hand applied specialist paint protection treatment.
A variety of solvents (metho, mineral turps, thinners, prepsol and plumbers solvent) have progresively failed to remove it. Some abrasive measures appear to have some success and have been tried reluctantly.
Best results appear to have been with some old Re-Po extra cut polish with light elbow grease. Will need to wait for daylight tommorrow to see if all removed and cutting action not affecting toughened glass surface. Absolute very last resort will be something called 'Jeweller's Rouge" which Windscreens O'Brien use to blend out glass scratches.
Has anyone else had a similar situation or know what the residue might be and how to get rid of it?
