    OPS to b6 passat

I have done quiet a bit of research about installing ops (displayed on stereo, not camera). I have a b6 08 passat with standard front and rear parking sensor and a MFD2 (i think).
I`m told this unit carnt do it, but the rns/rsd510 can. So for starters I`m going to swap to that head unit. My question been - what is required to get this working.

I`m new to VW`s so please be basic as I dont know the lingo yet

You need rcd-510 or rns-510 (more expensive)....you can get part from poland for 980$ including delivery (for rns-510) and of course, additional 350-400$ for installation by vw or cheaper if you use vw specs...

I can get the rns510 for $800. I was going to fit it myself as it seemed quiet simple.
Spoke with the vw dealer and they think all that is needed to make it all working is some coding.
They say about $100 to code it.....does this sound right?

Is the rns510 install basically plug and play? My car already has GPS.

If you look in the VCDS forum you will probably find someone who will code it for a slab or similar

What GPS does your car already have.

I believe I have the rns500. I have decided to go the rcd510 as I cant justify the $700 more for a gps system with $100 gps would do a better job.
Since I have gone for a lower end model does the same apply...plug and play install? I beleive I may need a new faceplate due to the rcd been slightly different in shape.
Will also get the coding done via VW

you shouldn't need faceplate. the correct rcd model will fit passat, there are two shapes, one that fits passat/golf etc and one that fits only touraeg from memory.

rcd510 should do ops. you are wasting money for vw coding when someone on the forum will likely to it for little or no cost.
