Have you checked the oil?
check it before you start it in the morning (not on a slopeetc only on level ground).
I was reading somewhere that it is normal for modern cars to consume oil, especially VW's (SMH a few days ago)
My advice: Buy oil and do an oil change yourself. this way you know how much oil is in there when it all comes out. the manual says how much oil you need, plus its usually better for your car if you do between service oil changes (think high performance vehicles needing oil changes every 5k and not 15k)

It has done just over 8000kms, so about halfway to service.
I took it to the vw service centre, and the chap told me it's normal to have to top up oil. They put in about 400mls.
However, the oil light still comes on. It also comes on when I brake on a steep slope, suggesting the sensor is kicking in when the oil level moves. I'll check the oil level later (my wife's using the car).
Should I be concerned about anything? I haven't noticed any oil under the car to suggest a leak.
