New tyres - Conti Sport Contact 3

I have finally replaced my original tyres after 71,613 Kms with tread still remaining (not yet at tread wear indicators). Those tyres were the Conti Sport Contact 2 fitted OE.

I had a wheel alignment done at 2000Kms and had them rotated every service. The rotation included the spare so 71,613 Kms out of 5 tyres.

I have always been very impressed with these tyres for ALL driving conditions, including punting around the hills.

I've done 500 Kms so far on the 3's, initial thoughts are they are much quiter again & stability even better, but that may be just because there new. Haven't been able to try out grips levels yet but I sure looking forward to that bit.

You're doing something wrong. Tyres aren't meant to last that long.
Conti 'something' 3's on my new R36 as well.

Geez, I don't think I've ever gotten more than 30,000kms out of a set.

...about to replace OE Conti Sport-contact 2 on our Mk V Golf Sportline.
60,000 km no worries, I'll be buying these again I think. Mind you, its my wifes car and she drives it gently, but they've worn very evenly, I'm impressed.

How does the price of the Conti Sport 3 compare with the 2... i need a new set and have been quoted $325 per wheel for the Conti Sport 2 (fitted and balanced) Is this the right sort of price?

The conti sport 2's are more expensive than the 3's, the 2's have a higher load rating of 97. The 3's are 94. The tyre placard indicates that a load rated tyre of 94 is OK, and anything above is also OK.

I was quoted $360 for sport contact 2's about 4 months ago, it appears conti tyres have recently come down in price. I paid $250 for sport contact 3's fitted, balanced & old tyres disposed of. I purchased my tyres from the conti dealer in Healesville, Vic. (help support local business after the recent bushfires).

PS. Conti Sport Contact 3's 'made in Germany'

Did you just have one wheel alignment?
How often did yoou do a rotation? Did you rotate yourself?
What pattern of rotation did you use?
