The rough 1st gear is the same even after an hour's drive, so not that it's cold.
Hmmm.... may have to check this out re my order.
1. let it warm up until the auto-choke lowers the revs.
2. they are CONTRACTUALLY OBLIGATED to fill your order as per the CONTRACT OF SALE. dig your heals in. You should be entitled to a loan car until a car that meets the specs in your contract is delivered. You could take them to court quite easily on this one and WIN! Retrofitting is not the same as factory fitted...

hmmm see how it goes it may be tight due to being new. check trans fluid level too.
Also the RNS510 thinks it's in Germany, and is not picking up any local satellites. SO although the Aus maps are loaded, it can't do anything. MAP just shows a blank screen. The Current Location function shows a Latitude NORTH location, so obviously not right. Any ideas on that one?
Thanks everyone for your help & honest opinions again. Will go back to the dealer for a proper audition this time with a favourite CD.... only really tried the standard system during test-drive.
At least settling on an R36 in the first place was a straightforward decision.... Probably don't need to tell you about a colleague who ordered a BMW and then spent another 2 weeks just wading through the options catalogue!
Swallowtail, sorry to hear about your troubles. Surely what has happened to your car is completely unacceptable.... retro-fitting defeats the purpose of ordering the Dynaudio factory fit-out in the first place doesn't it? Who would they be employing to install it and how could they guarantee that everything goes in the right way if they've never done it before. If my car arrives without my only factory option, a sunroof, I definitely won't be letting them cut a hole in the roof!
That sucks, Swallowtail. When I ordered my R36 18 months ago I was undecided about Dynaudio after placing the order. At that time, the car was "six to ten months away." After thinking about it for a couple of months I called the dealer to amend the order, only to be told that production of cars for Australia had already started and my car had been built - and the car was here after barely five months!
My dealer said that they were not prepared to offer the Dynaudio as a retrofit as they couldn't be sure that it could be done to the same standard as one fitted from the factory.
I'm happy without it, because I didn't order it, but if I had ordered it and it didn't arrive I'd have been very displeased. As it was I missed out on a reversing camera that the factory didn't put on the car because VW Australia forgot to tell them to, and got a large cheque for my troubles.

R36 =
Swallowtail... firstly, congrats on the new car....sounds like you are getting the dealer shuffle, my friend ordered a Touareg with seat memory from the same dealer that also didnt show up fitted. (Turns out to get the deal they often choose a car as close as possible to the one you want and then apologise later).
If it was me I would hit them up for a bigger than normal refund of the difference. Its either that or a 4 month wait for a replacement. Unless you are a real audio buff then its not a biggie, the standard stereo is pretty good, and if you listen to MP3's then the quality is already less than CD.
There is a slight hesitate on take off, I found that turning off the AUTOHOLD fixed the problem, (just remember to use the electronic park brake!!)
