the price of $62,200 is inclusive of all costs, drive away. I was fortunate to receive a good fleet discount as a benefit of my employer and on top that they reduced the price further if i took delivery by the end of month.

Yes i agree black is the best colour. This is my 3rd black car and second in succession so its not going to an issue. Now being able to wash the car at home helps too.

i will definitely post pics up when it arrives.

happy to email the invoice to you once i have it. the price you were quoted sounds about right for RRP. If you can get fleet discount it makes a HUGE difference to the price with VW.

I had an option to buy am R36 wagon with Satnav, Dynaudio, CD Changer, sunroof and autotailgate for just over $71k. This retails for $85k i was told. Spewing i couldnt buy this as i hadn't sold my last car in time.

Matt is dead right - the fleet discount is actually paid by VWA as a rebate back to the dealer, and exceeds 10% of the RRP, so if you can get it do it. In order to qualify you only need to work for a company with more than 15 vehicles (IIRC) and get a letter from your employer advising you are entitled to a fleet discount.

The dealers are happy to provide it (as they get it refunded by VWA) so if you can do it - go for it.

Hey Matt, congrats on your new purchase.

I am thinking of getting a R36 too. Are you buying the car through a company lease? Which then comes with the fleet discount?

    Cheers

sounds good for a catch up.

I did my finance through a commercial hire purchase which doesnt automatically entitle you to the fleet discount however i work for Optus head office so we have the highest level discount available.

We also manage all of VWA corporate communications along with Inchcape (who own CCC) so that helps as well.

Yeah picking it up at 11am tomorrow so cant wait.

Picked up the new car today as mentioned.
The sales guy ran throught the car in great details which was more for my wife than anything. They also had a really nice gift hamper full if nice food and chamers which won my wife over straight away. All in all i was extremely happy with the service i received.

My wife drove the car home and when i arrived after her she had a huge smile on her face which was to be expected.

We went down to the beach in the arvo and i got to drive. It certainly is a fantastic all round practical performance car. i have not driven a DSG for long before so it will take a bit getting used to at slow speeds. Still a bit jerkey on take off but besides that its fantastic. Its nice having the option between auto, sequential and paddle shift.

Im going to read the manual tonight (or at least start it as its lengthy) so get the most out of the features.

Anyhow here are some pics so far. I will take some better ones with the SLR over the next few days.

Also nice to meet you John, the wait will certainly be worthwhile
