Welcome to VWWC. Lots of useful info here (try a search if you can't see a relevant thread), and some friendly helpful people.

How quick you get your car depends on

1 How busy Patricks are (and therefore how long it takes them to get do the compliance processing and get it to your dealer.

2 How long it takes your dealer to do the PDI and rego.

Depending on the above, you might get a nice Christmas present, but don't be too surprised if you have to wait a bit longer.

In the meantime, do a search for threads on checking a new car when you collect it.

I would think Patricks would be busy during this period of the year to clear every possible car before Christmas. But then again you are right that it depends on how fast the dealer acts. Fingers crossed that I can get it before Christmas.

    Hi First VW

Which dealer are you getting your car through ?

I'm expecting my R36 to come through any day now too... from Burwins VW.

I've heard that the Customs & Compliance staff will be shutting down from 22/12/08 to 08/01/09, so we have to hope the cars make it to the dealer before then.

My dealer (John Hughes VW - PERTH) tried to **** me around at every corner...couldn't give me a firm delivery date...

So i went to John himself and told him this was unacceptable - i had a call later that day with a firm delivery date

You gotta put the pressure on em i say!

Below is a quote from my dealer, can anyone let me know what it actually means and what kind of impact am I expecting between 2008 and 2009 compliance plates other than resale maybe?

"Your car is now off the boat and the receivership paperwork signed. VW Australia have taken it upon themselves to assist all of their customers in Australia by holding any cars that have just arrived in bond and releasing them in January so they can have 2009 compliance plates fiited. We can arrange to have your car released now and should be here soon thereafter but will be 2008 compliance plates"

Having 2009 compliance plates won't make that much difference to secondhand buyers - the car was still built in 2008 and is therefore a "2008" car to most people (and car valuers). But of course just to add to the confusion it is "MY2009"

probably just a good excuse if its late. ill take mine now - if they get their act together!

if they have "taken upon themselves" without me giving me an option i won't be happy. i'm renting an A3 at $36 a day in the meantime.
had a passat tdi. now mb c class.
