My guess for the new Passat:

    Mid 2011 in Europe
    End of 2011 in Aust

+1 year for the R version.

5-6 year cycle sounds about right. I also think they'd probably want to leave a gap between the Jetta and Passat releases. New Jetta seems to have grown a little bigger...

The strangest rumour I have heard about the New Passat is that VW are considering magnetic low-voltage paint which can change colour by changing the current.
