Take it back to the dealer and get them to check it out.

Have never had any wind issues on either of our B6 Sedans.

Yes - resonance - that's the word I was after, and exactly what it feels like. I didn't have any extra options (except window tinting and protection pack) just the basic model.

In which case said body panel causing wind noise also.
Another possibility is incorrectly fitted exhaust system, again hitting a resonant spot

By the way, did you consider the adaptive suspension option?

Will definitely have it checked out - what I'm getting from these replies is that it isn't normal, which is what I wanted to confirm. Having never owned a VW I wasn't sure, but I was very surprised when I got up to 100k and heard it.

Good to know that that this is definitely not normal. I'm pretty sure mine is coming from the windscreen - I'll be asking them to check the seal.

My previous experience of the Mk7 tells me that it is not caused by the side mirrors or external design features and it is definitely a fault. - I've traced it to the outer door seals not making an effective seal, air is passing through but not penetrating the inner door seal - it does however let outside noise in including wind.

Visually the seals look perfect, the door may need adjusting to close tighter or seals replaced - yet to be determined pending a dealership visit.

    Hope this helps.

Interestingly today I was out in the car and after having it parked in the sun for about 15 mins I got back in and when it started up there was a rather piercing whistle.

I tracked it to an air vent as I had air on full cold and the l/hand centre dash vent was almost closed and I think that caused it . When I backed the fan off and opened the vent it no longer did it.

Yeah, I'll concur with OilBurna. My 4 year old B7 Wagon has never made a sound apart from when I have the racks on.

That one isn't such an issue because I don't drive at 120km/hr (much ...) but it says to me there is something not quite right. I will have the tyres checked at the 1000km checkup.

    Thanks for the quick response
If you can duplicate problem at a lower road speed, could indicate problem not due air pressure on panels.
First, monitor oil temperature to ensure engine fully warmed up
Take note of tachometer reading at "122"
Manually select second gear from top ( Position 6 instead of 7)
Try driving about 10% below and above tacho reading.
Also try reasonably firm acceleration through this test area.

Try same revs in different gears Should tell if its a harmonic issue related to driveline or as said above different revs at the same speed
