I have just seen scetches of the NMS ,which will be the Passat replacement for America, built in America, and it looks very much better than this.
More like a bigger version of the forthcoming Jetta 6...but very aggressive.

Wow that looks bland, what are VW doing first the Jetta and now the Passat
Disappointed but this was a predictable outcome I guess.... graft on current VW design language just like Golf VI and slot in the current CC interior.... but to call it "all-new"?
I don't see any logical reason to consider updating our R36 with another Passat in the near future unless this is just a short-term update.
I have however selfishly breathed a sigh of relief that my by-then 1.5yr old Passat won't look completely outdated when this lands =)

I actually liked that new styling better than the old one... I guessed I never owned any VW prior to Golf Mk6 era, so the whole Mk6 design styling looks better to me...
yes but the styling suits the golf, which does look better than mk5. somehow they st*ffed it up on the passat.
hopefully in the flesh....
had a passat tdi. now mb c class.
He didn't design the Scirocco which I believe was penned by his Turkish Predecessor Murat Gunak. Walter redesigned the Scirocco when he took over. There was a thread showing the Scirocco pre Walter, and it looked a lot more aggressive than it does now.
"He replaces Turkish-born Volkswagen chief designer Murat Günak, and his first task was to re-evaluate the designs of three then-imminent Volkswagen models which had been penned by Günak: the 2008 Passat CC, the 2008 Scirocco, and the 2008 Golf."

VW was silly to let Murat go. His record speaks for himself. Golf MkV, Scirocco, Passat CC.
Plenty more pics, many which certainly look better than the first lot.
