Had a look at the new Passat at one of the dealers yesterday. The interior is very similar to the CC but somehow still does not feel as classy as mine (dunno why, I couldn't put my finger on it). The exterior looks sharp but - imho -looks a little too vanilla for a prestige car. Given the dramatic styling of the CC (which I bought partly on looks), I could not see why they could not put a little more oomph in styling the Passat. However for people who want to blend in with the crowd rather than sticking out, I still reckon the new Passat is an awesome value for money proposition. However I reckon the relatively marginal extra spend on the CC is more than worth it for a dose of real style.

Saw one on the road today driven by a lady near Chatswood. Not very nice looking I would say but I guess it will suit someone wearing a tie on their way to work. I wouldn't say it's a car for pleasure (IMO).

I went for a drive and got a quote today,

very nice interior and very good driving dynamics. i quite like the exterior too. acceleration is smooth and urgent, so i believe the 8.5sec 0-100 spec.

I got the corporate plus quote, which was 5.5k off the 44k normal drive away price. this should give you some indication as to how much discount to expect.

does anyone know how much factory bonus the dealers get for selling a passat?

Dealers now have the brochures and a fair number of the actual cars sitting in ther yards; however, dealer websites have yet to be updated. VW Australia have sent out the brochure in a prompt manner. As for the ad, I can see how they're pitching the vehicle to their target audience, but the Super Bowl ad with the kid and the whole Star Wars motif is priceless!
