It's the sales manager himself that is the problem.
I stick to what the manual says and have done the oil changes @ 15K at the scheduled services. Some on here advocate oil changes at 7.5K intervals but that applies to operating in severe (dusty) conditions. It's up to you if you consider that your driving conditions are severe or not.
Some will tell you that BP is best but Shell runs a close second and I use it exclusively. I use Coles Express on Hughes St (opposite the Rugby Union field), their price is always and consistently the best in town and only just beaten (0.2/3 cents/L) on price by the United independents (and I would not use them for diesel in a fit). I get 4 cents/L off their pump price with Coles shop - docket plus another 4 cents/L with a Coles mastercard voucher for paying my Coles bill with a Coles Mastercard. The 8 cents/L off more than compensates for the claimed better economy from BP.
The local Sunbus public transport company also use Hughes street exclusively so turnover keeps fuel fresh, the only drawback is that the bowser is not under cover. The Shell opposite the RAAF base is often the same price but also often dearer but they do have a bowser under cover. Avoid Shell Nathan St for diesel as they are consistently 6 cent/L dearer than Hughes St but often match them on unleaded.

With my discounts (which are available to you as well) my last 3 fills at Hughes St have been 119.9 Cents/L and the price is still the same.
