I am running the OEM Continental Spot Contact 2's and was considering getting 3 new ones and rotating the spare onto the car but at a quoted $330 ea i may well be cheaper to get 4 of some other tyre..

I have been offered Sumitomo tyres at arounf $220 ea but TBH I know zip about tyres apart from they are round, black, and need air!

I dont need "performance" tyres, just regular wear/grip will be fine. The OEM tyres have lasted ok and I have no complaints apart from I am used to getting closer to 60K from a set..... on my XR6T and other cars.
I had Sumitumos in my old civic many moons ago. They are good soft tyres. Sumi share the same owners as dunlop in Japan, I think.

I recently changed to 4 Hankook V12s from the ContiSport2. They are good value and had good reviews in a few websites including carbonblack. Very quite and reasonably priced.
Just drove the whole day from Melb to Canberra today. Grip and tyre noise is very favourable.

Just a quick update on the KU31's having done around 3K

I am reasonably happy so far. road noise is well within acceptable limits and I reckon that they are quieter than the OEM's

Tyre grip in the dry is possibly a little worse but perhaps they are just noisier when they let go - the front wheel acceleration up hill is always going to be a hard test though.. Not that it has been too wet but the rain we have had as not presented me with any concerns so far.

So I have now done 41000Km on the KU31'a and have been very happy with their life/performance considering their initial cost. They don't have the the best grip at this end of their life but still acceptable. Will have to think about replacements soon if I don't trade the car in.

I've done 67,000km (put on at 55,000, now at 122,000km) on my Michelins, and will probably get another 5,000km or so out of them. It's just another thing to consider once the final decision on the car is made (hopefully within the next week or so).

I've been pretty happy with them for grip, handling, noise, wear, etc, and would go them again, if I get the chance.

I have CC and only got 55k from self sealing Contis, which was mostly country kms. Replaced them with Toyos. Have done 75k with them and seem about 50% left. Should get at least another 20k with them. Cost more them half the price, a little bit noisier, but have saved > $1200. Will get them again.

I have just put Bridgestone Potenza Adrenalin RE002s on my 07 passat (18 inch rims). What a difference a tyre makes! The car is totally different and much much quieter (the car was running the stock Pirelli P-Zero Rossos).
