I would guess your car would have arrived on a Melbourne arrival ship. But I agree there are too many variables in waiting months for cars. Waited 5 months for a Q7 and really decided I would never wait that long again.

There is one important issue that i never hear being mentioned. Most relevant in NSW but maybe elsewhere too.

The 1.8TSI tare mass is 1482kg
the 2.0TDI tare mass is 1554kg

In NSW, the above 1504kg vehicle registration is about $140 extra each year.

    Hi jetful,
I'm lookin to buy a new 125 tdi wagon, and am living in Townsville. They have a reflex silver one, just come into town, not really convinced about the Colour tho..... Nor the price. I am lookin to trade a 2002 allroad tho. They are quoting me 50k with only option being powered boot & paint. Gave me a decent trade I spose, with change over price of 36k. Do you mind sharing with u's, or pm me what your deal was in cairns?

    Thanks

    Lambo

On the side of the road via phone

Lambo, I am currently driving back from Mt Isa but give Marvyn a call at Westco - he is very approachable. I think my discount was about $4000, with tailgate and the xenon/DRL/Lane Assist . The deal you quote only sounds like about $1500 discount. I bought white and am very happy with the practicality of lighter colours. Obviously the Townsville dealer may have loaded some of the discount into your trade, so its hard to really know how good your deal is. Call Marvyn with a detailed description of your trade-in and see what he says. BTW just filled up and have a range on my trip computer of 1200kms

wow. 1200kms is certainly good range on a tank! went back to the dealer here, and managed to get a fleet discount, and a few extras being quoted, so will see how they go. The colour is growing on me... looks a little less dazzlin without the mid day sun beaming down on it. They drive a lot smoother than the same car 3 yrs ago. The earlier model seems to have a hard time with the turbo boost and gear change timing at diff revs/accelerator posi. tends to make the ride a little "jumpy". this model does not it seems. Think i may have seen your car between ingham & tsv maybe tuesday/wed last wk? led drivin lights? anyways, looking forward to a new passat!

Yes that may have been me. Tint the windows on the silver and IMO it looks very smart with the silver wheels. I have had black and dark blue cars - they look great clean but dirty easily and the lighter colours definitely are cooler.

I tell a lie about the range. It was 1310 km on filling in Emerald.

I am very happy with mine. The seat comfort is a big seller for me and the power passing a road train on the highway was just silky smooth and I really cannot fault the car.
