I'd be hitting the dealer up for the costs, after all they were responsible for the car whilst in their care. Why should your insurance take the hit (along with your excess, premium, etc)...

It wasn't at the dealer, but a body repairer. It will not affect my no claim bonus as 2 claims made were against (one taxi driver and one repairer). So no excess were involved.

News I got was luckily VW has RNS in stock. Hopefully next week I can get back my car.

Sorry, I'd still be hitting up the repairer for the costs, for the same reason..

Got a photo of the RNS damage:

Recently saw the car when it was having the dash fitted with the new B7 dash and new RNS model.

At least I got a bonus after all this inconvenience. Looked pretty nice with the new B7 dash with the lights around the air con vents. Electrician mentioned there was Bluetooth with the new RNS i got but we'll see after everything is put on.
Will post updates when I get my car back.

Considering how little there is holding the head unit in place it's amazing how much damage was done... but then it's not usually the deep end of the gene pool pulling them out now is it...

The B7 dash replaces the B6 dash. The old B6 dash is no longer available from VW.

Got my car in time for Christmas.
The new RNS unit has the '*' instead of the 'i' and the voice control. The startup logo was a black wallpaper VW background (not like the old one)..is this is the new LED unit? DOn't know the version as the secret menu is not enabled I think - tried holding the Setup button for a few min but only the Radio (FA + AM) is shown.
Got voice control enabled but w/o the mic.
The dash has the lights at the air vents but they didn't hook up the wires

Only issue is the Dynaudio is not setup in the system. The electricians computer went kaput and available only after a 3wk holiday
Anyone willing to help in the inner west? 0
