I just got an email from my dealer saying that all R36's will be witheld by VWA until the official launch at the end of August, irrespective of when the cars arrive in Australia. Would they really do that?

I've heard that might happen, but let's hope it doesn't. Volkswagen Australia are so disorganized that each dealer has been telling us different stories with regard to just about anything about the R36.
If they do, I'm sure we can kick up a big enough stink. I'm sure those of us who have cars on ships already wouldn't mind making a few phone calls each day to somebody in Volkswagen asking where their cars are...
If my car is withheld I might just decide I'd prefer to withhold part of my cheque for something that's been sitting around somewhere depreciating or possibly being used as a press car for a few months.
I don't see why they would do it, but I guess anything is possible.
I have documents from my dealer stating June delivery.....
This is getting hilarious mate....Whats the big deal???
It doesnt really matter if you get it in June, July or next year. You will still be driving the car. Why you guys keep on arguing......Things like "I will get it in June....dealer promised me July delivery"....this sorta craps. At the end of the day, any of us who placed the order will be driving it. It wont make you look COOL or RICH if you get the car earlier. So just sit back and see what VAG is going to do. If they can hand over the car earlier than the official release date (3rd Qtr 2008), good on them. Otherwise....WAIT!!!! You guys can't do much about the delivery date right. Be patient.
It does matter.
Volkswagen Australia prevented me from changing my order (I wanted to add Dynaudio) because the car was "in production" so I'll be ending up with a car that isn't quite what I wanted. Fair enough, I should have made up my mind earlier.
However, to prevent me from changing my order because the car is being built, then to ship my not-quite-what-I-want car here only to decide it will sit around gathering dust for a few months is unacceptable, especially if they knew it was going to sit around for a few months anyway.
What will happen to the car in the few months that it's sitting around? Will it be inside or outside? Will it be driven around as a dealer demo or as a press car? It is possible for VW to reset the odometer, so it is possible for this to happen. If it is just sitting around, what's the point?
What are Volkswagen Australia possibly trying to achieve by withholding cars from what were once happy customers?
All it will do is make us angry and not want to deal with Volkswagen again.
I am not any desperate. If you don't have a car to drive with in the mean time. Go rent one like myself. Also what do you mean you CAN'T drive it. It is a matter of time issue though. You will still get the car but the question is WHEN? If VAG is going to hold up all the R36 until official launch. What can you do? Tell me about it mate. The only thing you could do is WAIT. That is the problem on pre-ordering something that hasn't been released. Compromise guys.
Here is a question - Who has actually driven one of these cars ? We could all be waiting for a dud yet we are creating artificial hype about how wonderful the car is. Kind of like finding a new partner...looked good but was only a short term proposition.
Easy solution go buy something else if you can't or don't want to wait. Plenty of choice in this price bracket.....looks like what I will be doing. We have bought a fleet of VW's for our company and looks like I will be changing brands. :?
