    my new passat

    hey guys,

picked up my new car last friday, already really really happy with it. The power of the v6 mated to the dsg gbox is like a match made in heaven.

heres a couple of pics and i look forward to my hopefully long and reliable future with this car.

the only i need to do pretty desperately is find some new tyres, the previous owner has crappy chinese GT radial on the three of the rims and a dunlop on the front passenger side. These tyres make an absolute ridiculous amount of noise. What are your thoughts on the pirelli p7? I want some thing smooth and quiet, i dont need a performace tyre for this car.

    cheers!

Congratulations!! and welcome aboard the Passat Patch of VWWA...
V6 and DSG do seem to play well together... seem to generate less noise than the Diesel and Wet plate 6spd or the T4 and 7spd dry plate do. (regards lag and clunkiness) although I havent driven the other two combos to really know... I am happy with my set!

    Cheers

    Hey Alex,

Congrats on the purchase! recently got my R36 wagon..

Re the tyres, check out Kumho - they are reaonably priced and great for reducing road noise. I got a set of KU31's put on my mum's Liberty and I could not believe the difference is road noice. Currently looking at getting two KU39's for mine, I'd like to make the use of the spare, but the SP Sports are not available anymore, and its such a waste of two tyres, they have plenty of tread but the insides are badly scrubbed out, obviously the prior owner didn't have a wheel alignment done too often.

Hows yours on body flex, mine is terrible, I need to get some of this gummie pledge stuff to try and stop it as the constant creaking is driving me up the wall!

    Cheers Luke

    nice car mate.

can highly recommend the toyo t1 sport tyres, they are a new design which has superceeded their old t1r (got them at tyrepower in moorabbin).
nice improvement over the stock dunlop tires in my opinion in terms of comfort, road noise, and wet weather performance. not a big change in dry performance (both are good). i had all 4 tires replaced when i got my car about 1 year ago.

not that cheap but well worth it

thanks for the advice guys, im getting some toyo teo plus's put on the car this saturday morning for a pretty decent price.

will there be any problems with the tyre pressure monitors? Id assume they could just install new tyres keeping the valve with the built in pressure monitors?

also enjoying ebaying cool little bits for these cars, got some stainless scuff step things coming in the mail and afew other bits and pieces, i'll get some more pics up when they arrive.
