    misbehaving heater?

    hi everyone,

is it normal for warm air to continue to come out of the heater after the fan has been turned off? I know in other cars this will often mean that the 'fresh air' option has been selected, and naturally air will flow into the car as you are moving along. with the Passat however I cant seem to turn it off - even with the vents closed the warm air still comes out in the foot well. the only solution is to turn the fan on, select a cooler temp, and at least then you don't cook. any suggestions?

Sounds like a fault in the mixing control mechanism (either electrical or mechanical). Try selecting a few different comninations of cold, warm and hotter temps and different ouputs (face, windscreen, feet etc) and see if that fixes it. Otherwise get your dealer to look at it if it is under warranty, or a dealer or independent if you are paying.
