Hi everyone,
Been away overseas for a while and have missed the R36 to no end. Has been an absolutely fantastic experience so far.... however I've noted a few issues with the transmission and am hoping to run by the forum team as to whether they're real issues or not
1. Shuddering when reversing up inclines. We have a moderately inclined driveway and attempting to reverse up in with finesse (ie. cautiously) results in noticeable shuddering. Giving it a boot full of revs settles the shudder but not really a great deal more pace so a. Is this shudder typical on part-throttle reversing and b. does the DSG always need a load of revs when reversing up inclines.
2. Intermittent audible thump on upshifting. This tends to occur more on spirited upshifting, and occurs whether in manual or auto modes. This again is more audible rather than felt. It seems particularly noticeable on 1-2 and 2-3 upshifts.
3. Delayed upshifting via paddles. Seem to notice a quarter to half second delay on part-throttle upshifting. It might be me, but this seems less of an issue when using the gearshifter, and shifts are also more immediate via paddles during more spirited driving.
Given recent issues with DSG mechatronics modules, I'm wondering if these issues are anything out of the ordinary that needs chasing up. The car itself is still essentially brandnew with just 2300km on the clock. Thanks everyone!

Take it to your local dealer, they can check for faults, if none, check software version is correct and update if required, also check mechatronics to see if it needs changing if cant be updated to current software and if none of that they can re-adapt the mechatronics via basic settings and then roadtest after to see if anything has changed. Hope this helps, your local dealer will be able to do these things.................VW......................... ...
sounds like it might need the mechatronics adapted.
Similar behaviour to the A3 I had. Mechatronics was replaced.

Vwtech, thanks for the advice. I incidentally contacted my service centre and they advised that my car is not on the official re-call list. Is it only the cars on that list that should be affected or is it largely irrelevant? Does anyone know how this list was arbitrarily generated? By build date???
Thanks to everyone for their input. Sounds like my set of symptoms aren't normal DSG behaviour so I'll get it looked over!

Radius as others have mentioned it could be the mechatronics mondule that needs to be replaced under warranty. This is not part of the recall.
That's right... The temp sensor potential issue is the recall. Your symptoms could be mechatronics module related.
