MDI Adapter cable lightning for iphone 5

I found this on eBay: Volkswagen Audi iPhone 5 Cable MDI Adapter Cable Lightning Charger | eBay and wanted to find out if anyone has this adapter cable?
It seems to be a genuine VW part. I found previous threads on this site about this cable but it refers to the old 30pin connector plug with a lightning adapter and wether to get a genuine Apple branded one or not.

For now the BT connection works fine but it's a bit annoying I can't change tracks or fast forward using the steering wheel controls or through the head unit. I don't care so much bout displaying song titles and playlists etc, I'm more interested in being able to control songs without having to touch the phone.

I was wondering if anyone has one of these cables and if it works well?
Although this is a genuine VW part, with the myriad of updates Apple release with their iOS, they always seem to try and lock down 3rd party cable providers so I wanted to check.

Any info or help would be greatly appreciated.

Registering interest in an answer as well about the capability of the cable.

From a tech perspective, the Lightning port will be the Apple standard for a significant time period, longer than 30 pin was, so no worries there. It is far more modern, and it should be less susceptible to the periodic changes they used to do which made old devices obsolete sometimes, as it is better standardised now. The issues with third party quality control, you would hope VW has discussed with Apple to ensure the Lightning port complies with the standard going forward, which a lot of third parties didn't do initially. Lightning is a LOT smarter than 30 pin, it actually has an onboard authentication chip to deter the third party problem.

There is always a risk, but I would hope these problems would not apply to a genuine VW part, you would think they'd work with Apple to conform to the standard properly and authenticate correctly. The issue you may run into is not with the cable but with VW's software in your head unit not understanding new operating systems eg. iOS 8, which is VW's responsibility to push out software updates.
