Looking to buy a B6 Passat - some advice would be appreciated.

    Hi all

fairly new to the VW scene although fairly active on the SAAB Scene. Long story short, looking at 2006 B6 Passat 2.0 FSI Turbo Auto for my wife.

Would appreciate some advice on what to look for and how reliable or not they can be.

Some specific questions re an example I looked at yesterday:

    1) Are the autos (6sp non DSG) problematic?
    2) The car I looked at yesterday was serviced every 15k km. Is that the recommended interval?
    3) Do all FSI engines sound like diesels at idle. Was really suprised there. This one sound like a diesel.
    4) What is the recommended interval for belts (this one has 80k km).

    All advice would be appreciated.

    cheers
    Louis

    2) 15000k interval is normal

    3) sounds like a diesel because of the direct injector, much higher pressure being released as well as the mechanical fuel pump.

The auto is probably less problematic than the dsg (just because I ve had trouble with my dsg :-P )
