That might need enabling in the central convenience ECU with VAG-COM. You can do lots of other cars like that. I turned it on in my 2000 S3.

I assume it is a pretty new Passat. Some more details would be helpful.

Brand new R36 i believe from the other threads.

It might not be enabled as to allow access to the car if you have an accident.
My cousin's car auto-locked when you drove and emergency services had to cut the door off to get them out of the car after an accident.

It's done through the MFD.. I think it's under "Driver Settings", but isn't exactly obvious using the best VW Germenglish.. I'll have a look tonight and see what the steps are.

Yes - it is somewhere in the MFD ... the dealer person ran through all the MFD settings and set it up for me during the handover. I think the doors lock once I hit 15km/h.

The one thing I haven't found is a driver's control for the child locks. My last car had a button that secured (and unlocked) the rear doors, which was handy. Anyone know if this is possible?

what kind of car did your cousin have? volkswagen have if your in a crash the doors automatically unlock signal from the airbag control unit. Is a safety issue.

I believe it was a commondore.

I would never have auto lock on just incase it didn't unlock.
Say if the connection to unlock the door is severed in an accident.........

Couldn't agree more! Australia is not a country full of car jackings... Better to be safe IMO. Not to mention it's annoying to get out if you're the passenger and the car just stops to let you out. Have to pull the handle two or three times to disengage the auto-lock (my sister's Golf Mk5 GT Sport).

That used to piss me off royally! Passenger starts thinking theyre locked in.

But then I think its just me. I hate all the auto this and auto that. If i wanna lock the doors ill lock them. If i wanna indicate three times ill put the indicators on. If i want my headlights on ill put the bloody things on!

The only auto thing that makes sense to me is auto wipers.

Auto indication is convenient imo as one indication is not enough. The auto triple flash is good. The auto lights are also handy but auto wipers I'm not so keen on. Each to their own I guess.
