    Load sill protection strip

Hopefully my r36 wagon will be delivered this week?!
Has anyone had the sill protection (from VW) put on?
They want $220 for it, but given the large dog that will be in and out the back this may be a good investment if it protects the rear bumper, but it still seems pricey for a piece of contact...
Anyone know of any cheaper (or better) alternatives to the genuine VW 'part'?

The same thing is available from VW Parts for $80.00.
So looks like they are charging you abit for labour.

I will be getting mine from Duco Scratch.

Just mild soapy water, position and then squeegy on.

Will let you know how it goes...

It's genuine 3M stuff. I see it as good value, given you get everything you need to apply it.

Worth noting, don't apply heat to it.

As you peel the backing off, spray soap over the adhesive, as well as the bumper. This will assist in positioning. Then use the squeagie suppiled, to push the soapy water out.

I got one a week or so ago, but haven't put it on yet... there's a scratch on the sill (doh!) that I need to fix first...

Is there a product to protect the area behind the door handles from scratches caused by fingernails and rings?

The same stuff used to act as an invisible car bra could probably be used. Heat may be required to get it to curve, though. I've tried similar stuff on a New Beetle's headlights once. Was not successful.
