Kufatec bugs...any one else experience problems?

    Hi all,

I had the guys at No Limits in South Melbourne install the Kufatec Plus bluetooth unit (R36 with SatNav). I also had the VagCom codes done to activate all steering wheel & cluster display controls.

Generally works ok but there are some bugs & I'm wondering if any one else is experiencing the same & if you know of any fixes (the installer can't help):

    1. Every time I get into the car, my phone connects ok & phone book is downloaded fine. BUT it does not updae the recent calls lists (i.e. dialed, answered & missed calls) on the RNS510 screen.

    2. I can use the keypad on the RNS510 screen to dial phone numbers BUT that same keypad is inactive when in a call where the recorded voice says "press 1 to talk to a human bla bla bla".

    3. When in a call, if I press the 'OK' button on the steering wheel (say, to cancel the speed alert message), it hangs up the call. Pressing the button with the little phone symbol also hangs up the call but that is how the phone button is suppose to work BUT not the 'OK' button.

    Thanks!

Yup, just a fact of life with the Fiscon unit. It does not retrieve the call registers from some phones.

    2. I can use the keypad on the RNS510 screen to dial phone numbers BUT that same keypad is inactive when in a call where the recorded voice says "press 1 to talk to a human bla bla bla".

Correct - the dial pad is not a tone pad. You'd have to use the keypad on the phone.

    3. When in a call, if I press the 'OK' button on the steering wheel (say, to cancel the speed alert message), it hangs up the call. Pressing the button with the little phone symbol also hangs up the call but that is how the phone button is suppose to work BUT not the 'OK' button.

Again, just the way that this unit is set up - it sees pressing the OK button as confirming its ever-present question to "terminate the call?"

Evr, thanks for sharing your experience. I'm in Melb and also looking to install the Fiscon unit + in my R36 arriving in Jan. Would you recommend No Limits in South Melbourne? And where did you go to get the VAGCOM codes changed? Would I need to preorder the Fiscon from No Limits? Cheers.

Thanks for your input Swallowtail...don't feel so bad that now I know I'm not the only one experience these issues but then again would be great to get a software update from Kufatec on the call register issue & also to enable DTMF on the keypad! We'll see.

Harleyqn (love the name by the way!), the guys at No Limits are pretty good & I would go back there if I needed to install another unit. Regarding pre ordering, I was lucky as it took only 2 weeks but it depends on whether the aussie distributor has any in stock or not but I imagine shouldn't be too bad.

Had the VAGCOM done at Barloworld Brandon Park (Springvale Rd). They didn't want to do it initially but I kicked up a stink & 15 minutes later I walked out of there with it all done. Just remember to take the coding instructions with you that Kufatec provide.

    Good luck.

Thanks, its' been my online name since my monash days... was trying to fit harlequin into 8 characters. Anyway thanks again for the advice. I also ordered my car from that dealership so it should be ok.

    Cheers!

I got my Passat with RNS510 and Fiscon fitted through Barloworld Brandon Park. How do I check if they have done VAGCOM? My iPhone 3GS works fine with the unit apart from DTMF. For e.g. If i dial a number say +61289898800 ,+61(destination number) which is what I normally dial from my iPhone the call doesn't go through. This is while my phone is connected to Fiscon and I am dialing from phone and not from RNS510 dialpad. Some how it truncates anything that is after ","

I don't believe the Kufatec supports DTMF... ? I could be wrong, but I don't think so...

    Hey guys,

I'm also interested in getting the Kufatec setup.

Do they work well with Android phones?

How much are we looking at for No Limits to install the unit and Barloworld to make VAGCOM code changes?

I hear that Volkspower also do both (supply unit and code VAGCOM).
