For those interested a colleague of mine had a Kufatec Bluetooth installed in her 2009 Tiguan. The car origianlly had the "premium" bluetooth installed by the dealer back in 2009 (not a factory fitted option back then) & it never really liked connecting to any phone other than Nokia or Siemens. We finally managed to get it to work with Blackberry. My colleague now has an iPhone 4S which will not pair to the original bluetooth system. We rang around a few dealers & eventually found one that said it can be upgraded (the rest said it could not be done) & it would cost "well over $1,000". Price through Motivauto fulled fitted on site here was $600.
The new Kufatec system is completely integrated with the original RNS510 & MFD. There are few noticable things that are different.
1) You must use the mobile to search for the car rather than the other way around.
2) The MFD no longer displays signal strength, battery meter or network provider.
3) You can store up to 1,000 contacts (up to 4 numbers per contact).
The call quality seems to be no different (better or worse).
I am getting the RVC on my B7 Passat next week so will post my findings afterwards.
