    Hi all,
Just been reading this thread after experiencing the same as everyone else. My VW is a 2006 TDI Passat (83,000kms and owned it since new) and after re-fuelling I could not start the car the next day. RACV came out - same story, could not start, and car was towed to Volkspower in Melbourne where it is currently being diagnosed. Looks like wiring loom and injectors might need replacing. Could be due to dodgy fuel??
I might contact my VW dealership on Monday to see if I have any recourse. Would really like to know if replacement injectors, if required, have been redesigned to prevent this from happening in the future.
Also experienced a problem with the electronic handbrake last week -could not release it, and button was flashing. Was told by VW that I would need it towed to workshop, but eventually brake released and I was able to drive the car without further incident until 3 days later when the above happened. Am told the two events are unrelated.

I have a 07 TDI Passat, same problem with the hand brake switch, stranded me in a car park for nearly 3 hours, and was towed to Solitaires here in Adelaide to be fixed. Common problem in Passat, VW’s have changed the position of the switch in later CC and B7 models, hope they work better. May need a program upgrade as well, not sure for what years that applies to. Injectors are working fine, need to find some wood to knock on, normally they go on the 125 kw motor, not the 103 one. If you have always have had the car service by VW’s, see if they are willing to come to the party, to have to pay for them yourself will be expense.

Need to find better quality wood, injectors packed it in, refer to the diesel section for the full story.

All common faults with the B6 Ticker911, there is a log page in the "Diesel" section to log the injector issue.

    Hello,

I have a similar problem with my 2007 2.0L TDI BMR.

Went to my local service guy who whacked on the VAG-Com and come up with this:

'01137 Exhaust Pressure Sensor 1 (G450) Implausible signal P0471 Short With Power Intermittent.'

He said that a previous car had come in with that exact same fault and ended up dying two weeks later.

My fuel went from avg. 5.3L/100km up to 6L/100km, it also sounded like a truck, lost power and gears kept down changing.

I have just contacted my local VW dealership and asked if this is under the recall campaign, was told yes, so am booking it in this Thursday.
So I don't know what is happening in Australia, but it seems like it could be covered in New Zealand.

    Electronic Brake switch:

Have also had problems with this, has been replaced.

It is an extremely easy fix......do it yourself

    * The side cover at the the edge of the dashboard comes off with a gently pull with a flat baled screw driver.
    * Put your fingers up in behind the switch and push it out
    * Pull the contacts off and replace the switch
    * Push the switch back in.

I buy my parts from USA.
For you guy's this is a no brainer, with the good exchange rates.

I use this site, have even shipped boot liners and and nets down here with no problems and its a hell of a lot cheaper than buying here.

Under: Brakes,Parking brake, Switch passat, park hold

Anyway I hope it all goes well this Thursday when I drop it off............

Will let you all know what happens.

I own a Volkswagen Passat 2.0L TDI 103kW DSG Wagon. Driving on cruise control, engine suddenly failed. Car is 6 months out of standard 3 year warranty, done 83,000 kms. Had it towed to VW Gold Coast where it is regularly serviced (tried a mobile mechanic first but he failed to diagnose the problem). I was just informed by service manager that the diesel injectors have failed but luckily this part is COVERED UNDER 7 YEAR VW WARRANTY (saving me many thousands of $$$).

Everyone who has this problem, irrespective whether or not they are getting their car serviced by VW dealers should get their injectors replaced FREE OF CHARGE on failure, if the car is less than 7 years old.

Also can anyone tell me what is involved in getting an extended warranty from VW? Can I still get it ? What is the cost?

    Cheers.

I too are now thinking of the extended warranty, what is involved and what is covered. Is it a VW backed warranty or some third party insurance broker?

    Well,

Finally got the car in for it's service yesterday. Collected it this morning. They told me that the fault was the DPF (diesel particulate filter sensor)

But they did replace the injectors under the replacement campaign after explaining that "there was no problem with them, but we thought we better just update them for better ones"

    Yeah right.........
    Anyway it's done.

But this has left me with a very bitter taste... will never buy a VW/Audi/Skoda ever again. And are now looking for a new car.

Recently purchased the 2007 My08 Passat Wagon TDI, worried after reading this thread, 60k almost done. Rang up Volkswagon Australia and the dealerships as well, but no one stated anything about the Injector service recall/warranty. They said nothing is associated with your VIN. Currently car has no issues but would like to know how to get it done before something like this happens on the road or worse highway with a baby in the car!!!!

Also if I were to get an extended warranty, would it be covered at that dealership only or any dealership/ Independent would cover it?

Yes it will, it is a VW certified extended warranty and the car is covered everywhere, with the usual caveat that regular servicing needs to be carried out. Worth ringing all your local dealers, as I saved $1K for 3 yrs by doing this. Not cheap, but way cheaper than a new DSG!
