Car done around 60,000k. Lucky I purchased ext warranty . 3rd electrical problem in 12 months on this car, what else should I be expecting?

    That is fantastic news.
Is there any additional info you recieved on the recall notice?
Does it include build dates / engine codes etc.
Or just specific to your vehicle.

VW has stood up and taken notice, WELL DONE!!!

    Mmmmm....lets just wait and see.
Car is interesting post injector replacement and 60k service. DSG was quite rough for a day or two (jerky, rough downshifts), but is now silky smooth. However fuel consumption is in the mid 7's since injector replacement (about tank + 1/2), I hope that settles down!

If your car has a full VW service history, you should have grounds to get VW to come to the party and offer to pay at least half of the repairs. In reality, if you pushed the issue, I've little doubt anyone would argue that non servicable injectors shouldn't last a "lifetime" of the engine, and that is an angle people have used to great success. VW KNOW there is a problem, but typically they don't want to alert the public as it will cost a bomb. There is also the option of having injectors reconditioned in the UK, something I am working hard to try and get an actual definative answer to. In your shoes I would contact VW directly, and shop dealer to dealer, as some will be more willing to help than others, and the dealer who serviced the car should be most likely to help.

VW are very silly ignoring this issue, as I just read about a mum who had her injectors fail on the highway, and had to pull up without power assisted brakes and the steering was lifeless, and she had her 10 month old in the car. Thankfully she is submitting a report oficially about the danger, something I think more people need to do.
