    iPod connection

Is it just me or is it almost impossible to navigate through the iPod folders using the touch screen on the RCD510? (In an R36 if that makes any difference)

Finding a specific album is a pain in the a*#e IMO.

Anyway I've given up and loaded my music onto a usb memory stick, set up the folder structure to enable finding stuff easier and ditched the idea of using my iPod.

If you could enter a name of an artist or album directly the iPod would have worked fine.

Plus, the response when using the iPod was so slow but it's almost instant using the usb stick.

It's not ideal as I can only run through the folders as they are set up.
I still can't search as such.

    Any ideas?

I ditched the iPod as well for the same reasons - horrible.
I went and bought a 250GB hard disk (less than $100), loaded it up with music and organised it into folders to enable easy navigation. Works perfectly. Only thing is you have to watch out for is to format the hard disk in the FAT32 filing system using a PC (most are pre-formatted NTFS, which doesn't work).

A question from someone who is slightly digital music challenged

If you have downloaded music from iTunes and have this on your iPod can you copy these files to a hard disk and then play them back through the MDI via the HD?

Nup, well what I mean is you can't copy anything from your iPod. (unless you're an I T guru)
You can copy music from iTunes to another drive but not from your iPod.

16Gb USB stick is plenty for me and so far so good.

What is the maximum SD card can you use and does it play from that or gets copied to the Hard Disc?

Ah! I should have been clearer with my question, so what you're saying is you can transfer the files from your iTunes folder (including bought music from iTunes) to your portable HD and then play these through the MDI?? Cheers

I don't know about music bought from iTunes as have never paid for down loaded music. but I assume yes. The iPod works, as will most players I assume, it's just I find it a pain to use.
