I may be defecting to the Golf Gti forum guys - my employer picks up the fuel tab if I get a 4 star Green vehicle. I don't really need the full size sedan, so it looks like a bit of a no-brainer.
Before i go (will be posting similar question in the appropriate forum) what options are worthwhile on the MkVI? Should I get DSG again? Dynaudio? 18"s?
Cheers and thanks for the info / laughs!
Fairways and greens...
I am not surprised to be honest.
In my experience (in the insurance industry) it is so difficult to fix a problem like this to the complete satisfaction of the customer, that it is easier to settle the claim and recoup the salvage by selling the car as a repairable write off.
If they fix the problem they need to give lifetime guarantee, if they settle with you and sell the salvage, they at least make a "clean" break.
All the best. Have driven the MkVI and if you can accept the reduced space, I would buy one in a heartbeat.
I have a mate who was confronted with a long queue for the GTI, so has waitlisted himself for the Golf R, which he should get sooner - just a thought!
All the best
Confirmed Global Warming Sceptic. No Longer a VW Owner -Loving my new 2011 Range Rover Sport - bought as VW unable to provide info on the new Toureg despite it being released overseas 12 mths ago. 2008 R36 Wagon, 2006 GTI and 2004 R32 - Gone. Sorry VW, you make great cars but until you improve your customers' experiences you will lose customers
