    Quarter Mile Times

    Rob

Were they imperial or metric seconds?
You know you are getting old when you cancel your order for a 3.6 CC and buy an Icelandic Gray TDI CC instead.

Perhaps you could ask them and let us know. Might explain how Aussie R36s can only manage low 14s at this stage.

Having done some reading - I doubt its metric. Apparently the UK trailed it for 7 weeks in 1976 and gave up on it as a bad idea.

    bit of math...

If it where Metric, in imperial I ran a 11.75 < Yeah, I wish.
If it where Imperial, in metric I ran a 15.81 < This makes it slower than my W8.

    Neither of these are feasible.

I'm educated guessing 13.66 in Imperial is the correct one.

The times are pretty feasible really if you think about it:

    The Wagon/Estate is heavier...
    The Wagon/Estate suffers aerodynamically...
My engine had done ~ 3x the distance so was looser...
It was only 15deg-c here when I did my run...
I only carried 1/3 of a tank of fuel...
I made sure the climate control was off (compressor saps engine power)...
My engine was given the 'go for a blast' run in treatment...

... and, All cars are different. I've seen stock R32's roller between 240-265BHP.

    LOL...

It's a reasonable time. hypo's wagon ran 14.25 - the wagon is slower as Rob has said, and it had only done 1500km.

Mid to late 13s should be achievable in a run-in sedan.

Lots of things can effect ET (eg traction, driver skill, wind, weather conditions), which is why if you want to compare different cars (or power mods to the same car) the terminal speed is a much better measurement to use. For a given power to weight ratio of similar cars it is a surprisingly consistent measurment. If one car has even 5% more power than another it will show up in the speed at the end.

The other trick is to watch out for 1/4 miles figures being directly compared with 400M figures.
