Help R36 F/R Knocking noise

Hey,
Hoping someone can help, ive had a knocking noise when going over driveways or bumps in the road from the F/R suspension area. Had it in for two days to be repaired at VW under warranty, and they replaced the shock, and the top mount. And then they called me today saying it was still making the knocking noise, and that they had no idea what it was, they then said the next step was the replace the steering rack!

Has anyone have any idea what it could be, they said everything is in perfect condition and and even swapped the links over with no improvement, and check the rollbar ect.

Help! Even VW have no idea, there next step was just to start replacing parts!

They are hacks!!

I'd try a suspension specialist. If the noise is consistantly happening every time then it shouldn't be that hard to locate with a little time. Does it happen no matter what speed? eg. even if you crawl at 5 kph. What happens if you drive on the angle (one wheel at a time)?

I could try a specialist but they will start to charge $$. Were as VW are paying. The even checked all the anti roll bar links, bushes and everything. Next stop steering rack they said.

The noise is at any speed over bumps. On a flat/smooth road the car is fine

How old your car? I have a 08 passat wagon and does the exact same thing wonder if they would look at mine aswell if under warranty
