But the $57,180 is really only $51,981 worth of car before you pay LCT.

Now I have a target to hit! on a $65K car I think very little chance.

Is the starting price of $59K the norm for the R36?

I have now accepted that I will have to pay LCT
yep, cough it up like the rest of us!

Really, if you have an ABN and can buy it under your own name then you get the GST back in the next QTR on your BAS... Theres nearly 6K. At the same time you use the GOVT 50% tax rebate and the deal gets very very good indeed

Yep ... the 50% tax factor is having a huge impact on car sales atm & couldn't come at a better time for me as my current lease just expired.

If you are a small biz under 2mill then think about upgrading ur motor (or plasma )

    2 useful links here:

    http://www.treasurer.gov.au/DisplayD...ear=&DocType=0

    http://www.ato.gov.au/businesses/con...&mfp=&st=&cy=1

It seems you can claim 50% tax rebate in ur biz on June 30 2010 - say 70k car - 35k of ur company tax for this financial year.

    Plus u get normal depreciation

Plus u get the GST back

    What u waiting for

Which makes me wonder .... should I add Dynaudio while I have the chance of gaining from the govt's largesse ????

A wealthy man once advised me that when getting a new car get it loaded to the max as it helped on the resale but I am not sure I agree with that theory

Optioning Dynaudio is a no-brainer really if your spending this much money.

When compared to blue tooth, Dynaudio looks cheap in comparison to what people are prepared to pay to make a hands free telephone call!

    Just do it!

I have already decided to remove VW b/tooth for the aftermarket option

Find there are conflicting opinions on the audio & will it really help the resale ?

Well if both cars are similar in all respects I would buy the one that had Dynaudio, so I guess it that is a 'yes' to helping resale But each to their own

Resale is a way off. Spending 2000 real dollars now is still money out of your pocket.

If you think you'll get 2000 more on resale then do it.

But I reckon you won't. So you're going to lose money on it regardless.

I never said you you will get 2000 more on resale! And yes I have optioned it with Dynaudio. The money I saved due to good bargaining netted virtually all my factory options.

What I said was that if two cars were sitting side-by-side and and everything else was equal, the one that had Dynaudio would be more salable than one that never.

You might not get anymore money for the car, but a logical person will always take the car that is better value. So hence the car has better resale, although not necessarily in monetary terms.

LMAO!!! Funniest thing I've read in a while... How can better resale not be in monetary terms?

If two cars are both 2nd hand and have had exactly the same life and are in exactly the same condition and the only difference is that one has a different sound system, then the price will NOT be identical. It will be close though. One might cost $500 more. The point Luminary is making is very valid. The $2000 spent on any factory option will never be recovered in terms of resale.

That doesn't mean that both cars don't have a buyer as there's those that think it's worth spending extra for something and those that don't.

But you can never talk about resale in anything but monetary terms.
