Thread: Good deal for R36 wagon?

Smile Good deal for R36 wagon?

    Guys,

I've decided that life is too short not to have an R36 so I'm now trying to locate one that I like at a decent price (and without having to wait for 4-5 months).

I started off thinking I wanted it in black or grey but now the silver has really grown on me (especially after seeing Cro's pics)!

I had another discussion with my local dealer today. I've managed to get them down to $62,600 for a silver wagon which I can pick up within the week. That is the drive-away price so includes tax, stamp duty and everything. It's a MY09, so it has the updated RCD510 with touchscreen but no extra options (which is fine by me).

Do you think that this is a good price or should I be pushing the dealer even harder? With a 30% residual after 5 years this works out to just over $1k per month (CHP) if I finance it through VW.

I will run the numbers past a couple of other financial institutions as well to see if they can match/beat VW's offer. However, based on your experience do you think I'll be able to get a far better deal financing it elsewhere?

Your thoughts and reflections are greatly appreciated.

    Thanks!
    Audemars

The actual standard price of your car on the road is about $74,000. I got Camberwell VW down to $67,800 back in July 2008 when l ordered mine. $62,600 sounds pretty good but in the current environment who knows what dealers will do to sell a car. Maybe try and gets some options added for the same price? To be honest this is such a great car it now wouldn't have worries me if l had paid standard retail as it is worth it. You get a hell of a lot of car for $74,000 retail so anything under that is a bonus. Just order and enjoy

I paid about $71.5k on the road for my R36 wagon in August with all the ($8.5k) options - it would have cost me about $63k with no options. This $62.6k offer is even better and you will love the car!

that sounds like a pretty good price to me - I have been looking around and with corp discounts etc the best I have got is about $68k with roof, auto tailgate and sat nav.

what dealer are you working with?

just a thought - what if a few of us wanted to buy more than one R36 (or any model for that matter) at the same time? I am sure the deal would be slightly better for a purchase worth a couple of hundred grand?

    anyone interested?

Reverseworm, looks like we're shopping around for the same car... I'm looking for an R36 wagon with SatNav, Sunroof and Auto tailgate. Are you in Sydney? If yes then count me in. I've received quotes from Parramatta and Chatswood for just over 68K.

I am also about to place an order for R36 sedan. Have been quoted just under $70k with Dynaudio, Sat Nav and Sunroof using corporate plan. Only reason haven't ordered as the wife prefers wagon. Happy to look at a group buy - I am in Melbourne.

At the moment I'm discussing with Barloworld Mascot but haven't really compared with other dealers yet.

I'd definitely be interested if you're willing to pull the trigger soon. I hope to put in my order this week or next week at the very latest.

I am in Melbourne and probably looking to bite the bullet in about a month (need to sell my current car first).

I have been dealing with Camberwell and South Yarra VW - Camberwell being the cheapest. I might actually contact them and get them to quote for 2 or more cars. If it saves a few bucks, it will be well worth doing I think. vwevo - happy to chat further if the timing suits you?
