As it gets near the Cape of Good Hope new things spring to mind

    Ahhh anticipation

So far I have gleaned the following prior to taking ownership:

    • Chk the car intently at delivery for all ordered options & take it for test drive before signing off
    • Look for scratches, paint issues and interior flaws
    • Insist on an emergency triangle and fittings ;-P
    • Remember to ask for my VW umbrella

    Post delivery:
    • Wheel Alignment
    • Detail
    • Fang over the Black Spur at midnite :->

    Some other issues however:

    • I have the Fiscon Basic+ ready - who can install it in Melb for me ?
    • All this reading about RNS firmware updates etc and coding other features via Vagcom - who can do that in Melb ?

Appreciate any answers or input as to what I have missed

    Cheers

    Check:

    - All specs present and correct (both std stuff and your options),

    - Spare wheel, jack, locking nuts key,

    - All electrics work properly,

    - Headlights are adjusted correctly (you want to see those pesky wombats, but without dazzling everybody else around),

    - Compliance plate and rego absolutely 100% correct (while rarely wrong, it can be a total PITA if they get it wrong, and VWA don't seem to show any enthusiasm to get compliance plates fixed when they are wrong),

    - If satnav should have disks with it, make sure you get them.

Allow for plenty of time to do your checks (and it would be courteous to inform your salesperson beforehand that is what you intend to do).

I know it is probably picky, but I always run my hand along the bottom of the front bumper/ skirt.

If they have bottomed the car out at all you will be able to feel the where the plastic is rough.

When I picked up the car and did that the dealer said "but you cant even see that part of the car". I told him tough luck if it was scratched or marked prior to delivery they would need to fix it.

Turned out to be fine......... until I drove out the front gate of the dealer and bottomed out going out the driveway ! Doh.
Confirmed Global Warming Sceptic. No Longer a VW Owner -Loving my new 2011 Range Rover Sport - bought as VW unable to provide info on the new Toureg despite it being released overseas 12 mths ago. 2008 R36 Wagon, 2006 GTI and 2004 R32 - Gone. Sorry VW, you make great cars but until you improve your customers' experiences you will lose customers

Should the balance owing on your vehicle have come down between the order date and your pick-up date, given currency exchange movements?

    Nice thought but unlikely

It is the price based on contract signing & in this case VWA makes a profit --- now if OZ had became a basket case instead I would feel better

    kgbAgent,
If you read the fine print on your order it will likely state that price increases will be passed on to you, and similarly price decreases will also be passed on to you.
You may want to check as it could be worth it, having just written that they will likely use the EURO as comparison and not USD....
