Gear shift selection paddles

Hi,

I noticed that gear shift selection paddles are an accessory option on the Passat. Does anyone know how much these cost, if you think they are worth getting - I imagine they function exactly the same as shifting the DSG using the gear stick, and if they can be fitted afterwards. Thanks.

I had the 3.2lt V6 4 Motion Passat before my R36 and I had it upgraded with the steering wheel paddle shift option as the standard 3.2lt Passat doesn't have the paddle shifts. I think it cost about $1,000, but this is from memory so you will need to check that price with your dealer.

Thanks for the replies. Silly me for not finding that old thread. I think given they are an after sales option I'll wait to see how I drive the Passat once it's delivered and if I manually shift a lot I'll consider fitting the paddles - I've always driven manuals so I'm not sure how I'll take to the DSG. Seems quite expensive for what they are though.

it is pretty exxy! But i use mine all the time with the R36!!

Sorry I didn't know they are only an option on other models. It's pretty much the only way I drive my R36 (with the paddles) unless I'm in traffic.

The paddles were retrofitted in my car by the dealer (long story). Freeby for me, they're not even on the options list for the car, but they reckoned at the time they were worth about $750.

FWIW, I never thought I'd get a car with paddles or sunroof, now I probably won't get a car without either..
