    Fuel Pump?

    Hi All,

My 2006 TDI 103 Passat has recently had it's mechatronics unit replaced and we have driven the recommended 300Km to allow the car to relearn my driving style. but it's still exibiting very similar problems to what it was doing originally.

Occasional lack of power when pulling away from idle (not good for intersections as it leaves you stranded in the middle of them occasionally), feeling like the clutch is slipping when reversing up a driveway and very chuggy whilst warming up.

the car is back at BarloWorld Mascot today and will stay there until they can assure me that the problem is fixed.

I was wondering today though, could these symptoms be caused by the fuel injection unit rather than the gearbox?

My original very positive feeling toward VW generally is sadly being worn away slowly by these problems.

How can your feeling toward VW "generally" be influenced by an experince with just one car out of hundreds of millions of cars?

The quick answer is 'because I allow it'

the longer answer is 'My original perceptions of VW being incredibly reliable and in the event of a problem, straightforward to diagnose, has been impacted negatively by my experience owning one, so my general feeling toward VW as a brand is in flux currently. Add to this my wife and families requirement of the car during the now 4 days it's spent with the mechanic since January and I could understand my wife wondering if replacing our Holden Astra with something less reliable and more expensive, was not a great plan.

I am sure given enough time with the car while it is not playing up will improve this perception. we've just got to get to that point....'

So, has anyone experienced issues with the fuel pump or are the symptoms I've described something others have experienced that have been caused by something else?

I sympathise for your problem, I hope VW look after you. I found Rocket's reply strange, of course you'd be unhappy with the worry the car is causing, and you would have reservations about the brand. As much as I appreciate the great piece of kit my 2010 CC is, it has to reach the engineering standards of my old Subaru for me to say, "now thats the best car I've ever had, by a mile"

I've spoken to Barloworld today and they have said that there is no problem with the car but they will update the software again and see how it goes.

This is really starting to bug me.

The car is still with them so any advice would be welcome at this stage as I am really not sure what to do next.
