The sound ... . I suppose you get what you pay for (in fuel ).

Have you ever heard a PD diesel howl up to the red line?

OK, "howl" is not quite the right description here but I tell you what, it does have a unique characteristic. Don't get me wrong, it's nothing like a V6, but it does have an "endearing quality". Hard to describe but not bad.

    Anyway, I concede this one.

I agree... there is a nice little burble in the exhaust both when going hard and when pootling along.. hard to describe, but I reckon it's sorta similar to an old Holden 308...

ROFL!!!!!! Funniest thing I've read all week. Being the owner of a HG Holden Premier with a 308 in it, there is NO diesel engine / exhaust combo that sounds ANYTHING like it.

Hahahahahahahahahahaha!!!! But thanks for the laughs...

memories!! I went to school at KSHS at for you guys who know the roundabout there will know how funny the following is....One day my brother and i were waiting at the bus stop in from of Kenmore village to pick us up (heading in bound back to chappel hill) when my mum decided that she didnt need to go around the round a bout, she would just go on the wrong side of the road and then drive around it the wrong way!! Problem is my brother and i were so embarrased we hid behind the bus shelter whilst she caused traffic chaos. Lucky no one got killed!! to this day, she does not know we saw the whole thing.

    More OT..

I was at OLR, on the corner where you have to turn right to stay on Moggill Road.. ah, the memories..

The final part of the story was that we wound up crashing, in Kenmore, out the front of shops. My uncle was a real estate agent at the Professionals there, and saw it all happen. We wound up knocking over a council bin and damaging the car a little, and at the time my aunt was the secretary for one of the aldermen (as they were then) on the council, with an office in the Village shopping centre a little further up - her first comment when she heard was "Are you going to pay for the bin?".

For me, it was back to the #4 bus after that for a while..

    Back sorta on topic...

For those who commented about my fuel consumption, you'll be pleased to know that on Friday I had to go across the city. MFD2 (for the tank) was showing 5.7l/100km when I left, and 6.8l/100km when I came back, MFD1 was up around 9... I still haven't managed to get MFD2 any better...

So I presume you've listened to every diesel engine and exhaust combo to comment?

I've grown up with 308s and 253s, and there is something distinctive about my diesel now that's similar.

Otherwise, I'll say "Get your hand off it Daryl".
