front spoiler scraping?

is everyone else experience serious scraping on driveways etc on the front of their R36? it breaks my heart every time

Heh...
You should try a stock MkIV R32 let alone mine after I lowered it.
It becomes a state of mind after a while. You learn the angles you need to enter and exit at and how to approach different gradients.
You also learn to grimmace and cry when you don't get it quite right and you hear the bottom of the lip scrape across whatever it is that it's scraping.
You also learn how far you can drive into a park which in a big car like a Passat I imagine must be a nightmare if it's that low. Reverse parking and crab driving are the order of the day.
Luckily I haven't hit anything yet because the day I do the lip spoiler is not going to survive. Getting the bumper resprayed soon too to get rid of those nasty scuff marks from the previous owner and my learning experiences as well as my mystery scratch.

If I am lucky I can get the front to scrape, and then the towbar to scrape.

I find if I cover my ears and go "LALALALALALALALA" it helps

I have even had one wheel start to lift off the ground going into a very steep ramp at an angle.

Yes and King springs custom made some R36 sports springs for me to fix the problem - raised 15mm from R36 ride height (or 10mm lower than standard Passat) and with the R36 spring rate.

I got two full sets made and I still have a front pair remaining - as new for only $125.

I know the feeling... I am looking to have some custom rubber strips to be stuck underneath... While you can't see the scrapes from front on I know that they are there ....

There is also a piece of plastic lower than the bumper, which you may be hearing. It scrapes whenever I enter my underground carpark at work. Had a look under and it isn't the spoiler.

That said, I have also scraped the front spoiler as well.... really annoyed me.

Yeah I had the same problem. It was OK getting off the street but as my drive sweeps down & around before going into the garage the passenger side was just catching on the lip of the concrete slab. I tried sticking on rubber stoppers under the corners of the front spoiler so they would wear away slowly without damaging the spoiler which worked OK initially but if you came in a bit quicker than normal they ended up tearing off.

I ended up putting down a 10mm thick Weathertex (masonite) mat on the ground about 500mm from the edge of the concrete lip which meant that the front of the car & therefore the spoiler was raised an extra 10mm off the ground before entering the garage and the problem was solved.

Still everywhere else I drive I am much more cautious on driveways & speedhumps having been used to the ground clearance of an XT Forester.
