    Free Servicing

Just got a letter in the mail today saying that since I bought the R36 during a "promotional period" in June this year which I thought just meant free dealer delivery/rego/stamp duty - I also get the first 3 years/45K of servicing free!!

    Anyone else get this letter?

Ooooh, I'll keep an eye out for that! Everyone loves free stuff.

Although free servicing will be the only way I take our Passat back to the dealer other than for warranty work...

Hahaha - yeah got that email as well, and the several apologies afterwards!

Come from VGA in NSW and its not for one specific dealer. It does say to mention the letter when booking it in for service - I hope that doesn't mean they pencil in the work experience student to do the work on the car

Daewoo cars also had a free servicing and I didn't see more neglected cars like Daewoo were, many of them had engines filled up with the sludge up to the brim.
I would be watching it closely making sure that oil filter gets replaced and oil is nice and clean after the service.

    Just my 2c.

I'd ask them to write down what oil they use on the documentation they give you after the service (to "encourage" the service tech to put the correct VW spec oil in the engine, rather than some cheaper non-approved oil).

    Great savings though

Yeah this was a genuine Volkswagen offer they ran in June for all business customers so everything should be legit! Hope you're loving the R36!

Don't get me wrong, I'm not complaining or anything but it was never mentioned during the sales pitch or during the pick up....

And yep, absolutely loving the car

I'm pretty sure that was the advertised June special (for corporate customers) from VWA. Lucky you! I had it on my previous car (Audi) and couldn't wait that long this time as I had to order my car in May to get it on time.

Make sure you ask the dealer for a print-out after each service, of what they have done, because you don't pay they don't give you an invoice. It's the only way to have service records for the free period!
