    Fixing rattles

Just a quick FYI for everyone. I have a 2007 Passat which had a couple of rattles in the dash that drove me crazy. I saw this recommended for fixing rattles on another site:

Amazon.com: DuPont GPL 205 Krytox General Purpose Grease - .5 Oz Tube: Home Improvement

5 mins work and all my rattles are gone! The grease is specially designed for plastic (so does not make it deterioriate like other greases). Expensive, but worth every cent.

Which joints did you do? And did you just push the grease in from the front and wipe the excess off?

To be honest my rattles were coming from my door jams (easy) and from the surround on the stereo (easy to remove and replace). I just put some grease on and spread it with a paintbrush - all gone. I think if it's coming from another area you'd need to do some disassembling - but well worth it. If they were more generous with the stuff you probably could just squirt it in and hope for the best - but it's $29.00 for a tube the size of a super-glue tube....

If you're taking panels off, then blutak or plascticine works wonders.

I've used it on many cars to stop/reduce rattles. No mess, and cheap!
