    eternal pause in 1st

    heya folks
    We have the 118 tsi with DSG (brand new now with 2k's) and when leaving the curb or lights or anything to do with a stationary start this thing sits there and hesitates so long that I reackon its dangerous.
    I didnt drive it when we test drove it as its my wifes car and I was happy for her to make a decison.
    Hence after getting out of my Rocco and driving it, it is frustrating.
    Is there a fix ?
    Is it a common complaint ?
    Am I imagining it ?
    ECU flash to fix it ?

    If the pause is eternal then does that mean it is stuck in 1st forever or does it just sit at a standstill forever?

    definition of eternal is having an infinite duration so I am confused at what is happening.

    The big Q' I have is has anyone reflashed their ECU with after market to see if this kicks it.
    Bluefin maybe Viezu, APR etc...

    Sounds to me like a clutch issue. Either way sounds unusual. Have you contacted your dealer?

    I am also just over 2k, thing has no hesitation whatsoever... although mine is a wetpack 6, i would expect a drypack 7 DSG would be intended to operate the same way. Could you have an issue with your clutch (say oil contamination or something) so when it is trying to slip the clutch to take off, it really is just slippin?

    whatever it is, off to the dealership I reckon....

    7spd is very different than the 6spd. 6spd almost feels like a normal automatic compared to the older 7spd's

    I had the same issue but fixed it by purchasing/installing a SprintBooster. You only have to avoid one accident and it's more than paid for itself.

    Did you visit the dealer at all to discuss and diagnose

    All the reviews of the 118TSI Golf mentioned the same thing, perhaps a limitation of the dry clutch setup, so I didn't waste my time with asking the dealer. Installing the APR Stage 1 tune helped a little bit, but using the SprintBooster in it's Sport setting completely kills the pedal lag/hesitation. Race mode is purely for fun (makes the accelerator pedal very sensitive, a bit like the brake pedal).

    Supercharger in the 118 + APR Stage 1 + Sprint Booster completely changes the way this car drives and performs, you'll love it.
